Landscape
Quantum OS is the underlying organisation and structural rules underpinning The Quantum Garden Vault and non-online notes.
The use of Quantum OS to suggest an operating system in no way suggests I am a computer. Rather, it is a set of notes that describe the rules and standards I have determined are best to manage my digital information as I see fit.
Core concepts
Always bet on text means knowledge should be stored in text based that can be read independent of the application that created them.
Backlinks are important to creating connections between notes allowing for traversal of ideas.
Designing the Quantum Garden contains some concepts that need to be pulled into individual items.
Don’t duplicate public knowledge means seek to avoid creating notes for information that is otherwise known and only serves to decrease the signal-to-noise ratio.
Epistemic integrity is a commitment to developing knowledge that reflects my experience and worldview and not copying the ideas of others as my own.
Personal knowledge management systems must be flexible otherwise it puts unnecessary friction into thinking.
Tags are not knowledge in themselves and are essential to automating the creation of Structure notes.
Managing content
Knowledge and records stored within The Quantum Garden Vault system are subject to the following rules and guidelines.
- File structure
- Content generation
- Structural information
- Website publishing
Still to refactor
The following sections to be reviewed and refactored, along with Designing the Quantum Garden.
| I want to… | …manage the Digital Garden |
|---|---|
| Attach a file | Photo, image and attachments guidelines |
| Add a source | Quantum OS Source Naming Rules |
| Check for consistency/errors | Journal QA | @maps.base| @qa maps without description.base | @qa redundant title.base |
