I’d like to get a Now post out every Sunday evening. Today’s will be shorter than Now, 21 June 2026.

It was a week of Good work, with a lot completed and very little sense of time passing. By the end I was weary-tired and content/proud of what I’d managed to complete. Even three days later, that feels like it was the totality of my week.

I put my learning from Flores (2013), Conversations For Action and Collected Essays into practice and spent a lot of time observing the types of conversations I was participating in, and the quality of commitments being made.

I elected to skip my weekly gym session on Friday morning and got my quarterly haircut instead. Though gym is my choice, the regularity of it made me feel like it was something I had to do, and after the week at work, I didn’t want any more “had to do.” After my haircut and walking the dog, I spent a lot of the day Migrating from Quartz 4 to Quartz 5 with some good progress made. That was wrapped up with some more progress just before this post. I feel like I’ve broken the back of it in my understanding, even if not practically near the finish line.

This morning, my wife and I toured around the local Sunday market and the headed to Bunnings for a sprayer and some more rat poison. Our lawn has too much grass in it and I sprayed for what I now know to be “Winter grass”. It’s too prevalent and will stop the buffalo from returning to full strength. What can get through is the best growth I’ve seen after fertilising in the last couple of months.

Reading

I’m currently reading:

  • Flores (2013), Conversations For Action and Collected Essays
  • Proust (1913), Swann’s Way: more than half way
  • Pratchett (1996), Feet of Clay (audiobook):[^3] continuing my way through the Discworld series
  • Bakker (2004), The Warrior Prophet: continuing strongly from the first book in The Prince of Nothing series with a group of complex characters and antoganists.

Recently finished

  • Pratchett (1996), Feet of Clay (audiobook)

I need to select a new audiobook. Might continue The Mistborn Saga.

Gaming

More hours into Cities Skylines II and Ghost of Yotei, at least until the new exploration ship in Elite: Dangerous comes out on Tuesday.
