I waited years for Wizard and Glass to be published and carried the large hardcover volume with me from Melbourne to Chicago and back. The cliff-hanger ending of The Waste Lands was quickly resolved and I was unprepared for the backstory that followed. My disappointment has been pushed way into the background on later readings I see Wizard and Glass as important, if not the most important, driver of Roland’s quest.
