This post is part of a broader effort by me to define who, and what, I am as a coach. The list that follows is the first cut of the 20+ things that I can do for potential coaching clients. It took about 20 minutes to write (with 2+ years of background thinking in my conscious and subconscious). If anything particularly resonates with you (or not) I would love to hear your feedback.
I can be of valuable assistance as a coach if you are…
- a person who is suffering because they are unable to ask for help in order to take care of what is needed for them.
- a person who loves to learn for the pure joy and wonder of it.
- a person who is overwhelmed by new technologies and feels inadequate because of it.
- a person who wants to organise and track what they know (and what they don’t). - a person who wants to provide real service to the networks you belong to.
- a person who thinks life would be better if you were only more extraverted or more of a “people person”.
- a manager who feels like “a ship lost in the ocean” because you have little or no support to help you in your role.
- a fun and creative person who wants to build a foundation of support to keep you fun and creative.
- a person who “knows” they need to have a conversation with someone else, yet is unable to do so and requires assistance in developing an approach and support in carrying it out.
- an isolated business owner who wants and understanding and objective sounding board.
- a person who needs to generate options and a support structure to move forward.
- a person who needs to be at peace and acceptance with a particular situation.
- an executive or business owner who wants to build a greater level of trust, motivation and accountability in your business/division.
- an employee who has been told they need to see the “big picture” and hasn’t a clue where to start, or even what the “big picture” is.
- a manager who wants to give truly constructive feedback in a safe environment for the development of the people you manage.
- a person who always seems to “rub people the wrong way” and cannot understand what you are doing wrong.
- a person who believes leaders are made and not born.
- a person who wants to be successful at any moment in time.
- a person who wants to shout, “Stop the ride. I want to get off!” and needs to create space to think.
- a person to whom “personal mastery” and “quality of life” are real goals. - a person who wants to feel connected to a greater humanity.
- a person who has something important to do, then procrastinates or doesn’t know where to start.
- a person who needs it all now because you are scared to enjoy the journey along the way, and have nobody to travel with.
- a person to whom “Respect”, “Integrity” and “Trust” still mean something and who wishes to be a strong example in the community.
