I purchased this tripod because I needed additional height for my Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 binoculars. The original tripod, the Benro slim aluminium video tripod with S2 head, was ok for looking horizontally, but fell short when stargazing.
The Neewer N284L+G0 tripod is a beast, capable of placing the a camera or binocular body 2m above the ground. I can also remove a leg to create a 1.55m monopod should I ever need it. Since I’ve had it 3 years and only just learned of the monopod feature, the need to use it is unlikely. Weighing in a 2.6kg, there is some heft behind it which should make it more stable in a strong wind.
