I frequently describe my mind as being like a sponge, especially when approaching a new topic to learn.
I am referring to bringing in multiple ideas and letting my mind connect them. This is an analogous to the way notes are interlinked in a Zettelkasten. The knowledge emerges from the links that are made connecting new material with existing ideas.
