Yesterday I went searching for a blogging client that would let me post from my Palm Pilot toMovabletypee. And I couldn’t find one. Avantblog is restricted to blogger and [Handex Weblog](http://www.handx.net/products/ webLog/) looks way too time consuming to setup. With so many Windows clients working through the XML-RPC interface I expected more. Perhaps it has something to do with the conduits.

Then I went to the best source for movabletype support. It’s own support forums and was very quickly directed to a solution by Meryl PDA Posting to MT through Avantgo. After installing Avantgo and creating a custom channel I was away.

It’s not a perfect solution but it works and was quick to set up. The reason for the imperfection is the way Avantgo displays the post creation page. The main entry field is just 5-6 characters across. Not wide enough to do any good composition but I plan to get around that by simply writing my blog entry in Memo and then copy and paste into the field.

Some handy hints for others going down this path. If you have trackback enabled you will need to include ‘allow_pings’ otherwise it seems to default to off.

My entry is a little different from Meryl’s because it includes allow_pings. All on one line in Avantgo.
