A Declaration is a Basic linguistic act where the words precede the world. In other words, it is a statement of how the world will be from this point forward.1
Declarations are not tied to fact the same way Assertions are. For the world to change, I must have Authority to make the declaration.
Trump is the perfect example of someone who makes Declarations without Authority; even though he believes he has it.
Types of declarations
- Declaration of acceptance: from this point forward, I’ll accept the situation as it is.
Footnotes
-
Even if the declaration has been previously made in the past, there is a new declaration. ↩
