The other day I wrote a post about The state of my garden. At the time the temperature was 34 degrees Celsius.

Well in spite of global warming claims the weather here has turned decidedly strange. Yesterday was a hot 36°C until about 7pm when the cool change hit. Where you live you may not know what an Australian cool change is like. After days of heat a change in the weather can drop the temperature by 15–20°C in about 30–60 minutes. A welcome relief for everybody with a few good thunderstorms filled in.

Yesterday’s cool change was very different.

  1. The wind was icy, not just cooler\
  2. Today’s top temperature in Bendigo was just 10°C. This is high Summer and some 19°C below average. A full 26°C drop on yesterday!
  3. In 24 hours we have had about 1.5 times February’s average rainfall. We are in drought and on severe water restrictions.
  4. A lightning strike in Melbourne created thunder so powerful that a number of people across a 60km radius reported earth tremors. And the rain is getting heavier.
