I created my first physical Tickler file today. As a strong advocate of David Allen’s Getting Things Done approach to time management, this was perhaps the final piece. All the instructions for creating your own can be found on David’s website as a Tickler File tip. It’s not substitute for reading the book and putting the tickler file concept into context, but will give you an idea. Using a pocket pc, Outlook and other such tools are great but they have never been able to handle bits of paper. Once I had everything set up the first piece of paper went in. A form which I need to take with me to a client tomorrow. Something very simple, and yet I felt immediate relief. It just goes to show how much such things can drag upon one’s mind.
Total cost was about AUD$50 to setup.
