Word has a nice collaboration feature which identifies the changes made to a document. It shows them as markup and identifies who made the change. A few days ago I took a Microsoft Word document and used it as the template for another. As I deleted the original text (I was after the styles and layout), Word faithfully tracked each modification for me. I couldn’t see it happening because Track Changes was turned on, but I was only showing the Final Output and not Final With Markup.

I created my new document and then emailed it to somebody thereby unwittingly including the changes from the original. If you are a Word user you will know these are present until accepted or deleted. Anybody turning on Track Changes on that document would see all of my original document.

Thankfully in this case the material wasn’t too sensitive but a trap for young players nonetheless.
