Chapur have just released KeySuite, a set of tools that replace the built-in Palm Pilot applications. I’ve been using PocketMirror Professional and KeyContacts very successfully for a while now. They provide the best integration with Microsoft Outlook that I can find.

It was with interest then that I installed KeySuite. It replaces the DateBook, ToDo, NotePad and Address applications to provide full support with Outlook. Mostly by way of supporting all categories etc. But it didn’t take long to become uninterested in KeySuite. Full support with Outlook means no support with anything else. KeySuite actually makes my Palm pilot less useful because in order to support Outlook it gives up support of the built-in databases which so many other applications make use of. I can’t send items from ShadowPlan to my calendar (DateBk5). Further the new tools aren’t as useful as what is already there.

Removing KeySuite’s synchronization of DateBook, ToDo and NotePad has been annonying to say the least. The uninstall to took out my existing PocketMirror and KeyContacts installs, necessitating a full uninstall and reinstall of each. I’ll keep the download for posterity. It looks as if Chapura are rolling everything into one suite and it may be the only way to keep things up to date. Install the full suite for the 1 piece you I to use. It would be great if they were able to write a conduit that used their tools and sent a cut-down version to the default databases.
