I’ve just come back from the mid-level conference of my coaching course. This is a summary record of my key learnings to date.
- The speed of conversation is a good indicator of the listening taking place. In my observations the slower the conversation the more powerful it can be.
- Making space for silence is important
- I’m not making enough Requests and those I have made are not always clear
- Sadness occurs at the realisation of lost opportunity and that is a key indicator of learning having taken place
- Not asking enough questions may be an Enemy of learning for me
- The responsibility of Ontological coaching is immense
- It can be the smallest thing we say that triggers off a listening in somebody else
- Coaching from the Ontological distinctions is easier than not doing so
- The Ontological coach creates a space for the coachee to unfold into (more on this in a later post
