The latest version of Apple OS dropped this week and I upgraded my Apple TV last night. It looks a bit different and that’s it. I will update my phone and Macbook but the rush to do so isn’t there like it was in the past.

For several iterations now it’s like the vendors (Apple and Microsoft) are stuck in The optimisation-procrastination trap. Each year, or half-year, they roll out changes for the sake of change masked as progress. I know there are critical bug fixes but these can be handled separately. The OS upgrades are mostly there to make it look like progress.

It’s disappointing to have lost the excitement of something new. Oh, there is a crazy app on the Apple TV that will let me use my remote for karaoke. I suppose that’s something new.
