Introduction
Writing doesn’t begin with a blank sheet of paper. It begins with an effective note taking practice which starts a long time before the writing begins. The self-discipline required is lessened by the use of a supportive system.
Chapter 6
- Take notes geared towards the end result of writing
- Separate notes by tag
- Fleeting or project notes, if all kept dilute permanent notes. Process them, then delete
- Remarkable table would be ok for fleeting notes (so is paper)
- If only taking notes for a project, focus is limited. Can’t join ideas across domains.
- Anything in my system not permanent is fleeting (or not fleeting = permanent) - will avoid placing fleeting notes in anything except the inbox.
- Evergreen = permanent
- p. 54 Literature notes = bibliographic slip box, Permanent notes = main slip box
- notes = idea/thought, ! a reminder of how something is to be rethought later
