Jared Henderson identifies four basic prompts,1 partly designed to get past any block and into a Journaling for the day.
- Write about an event that occurred during the day. Doesn’t have to be momentous and can be mundane. Goal here is to get started.
- Write about something you’re proud of from the day. Something done, restrained, habit followed…
- Write about something that went wrong. What is the learning from that. Is there a pattern.
- Zoom out and think about the bigger picture. How does all this above connect to the larger narrative in my life.
The last point is a way to reset our own story.
