This morning we found ourselves engaged in a dialogue with Steve Munro and Michele Gaca of the EPA on the concepts of sustainability in the environment. It seems the Government has made it possible for industries to enter into Sustainability Covenants which allow for long term environmental changes across an industry. Those companies participating in a coventant will find themselves in a Community of Practice – all sharing knowledge about how to move forward.
Following up on this led to the Melbourne Principles on Sustainable Cities. These principles outline how to achieve long term sustainability in a city. Of particular note to KM are Principles 7 and 8 which have a strong alignment with the objectives of knowledge management.
