This quote from Deepak Chopra suggests that we are continually acting out of fear.
Our thinking and our behavior are always in anticipation of a response. It is therefore fear-based (via David Gurteen).
I would like to know what Deepak’s definition of fear is. For me this is a negative statement which suggests everything we do is reactionary. Fear drives action (on inaction) but it doesn’t generate my future. In Ontological Coaching we’re taught that there is a difference between what concerns us and what our intentions are. I think Deepak is suggestion we can pick every action as having been driven by the need or intention to eliminate fear, yet many actions come more from what we are simply concerned with.
