I have been using NewsGator for only 5 minutes and already it is proving to be a very powerful ally. As a “Radio” user I am set up to receive RSS newsfeeds from a number of sources. Newsfeeds provide the most recent posts from many related websites and save a massive amount of time. Instead of visiting each website, it comes to me. Prior to installing NewsGator I have only been able to aggregate newsfeeds using “Radio” and I don’t always have it running. And whilst the Radio news aggregator supports quick quoting and cross-posting, I don’t do it that often.
Now with NewsGator I have all my feeds dropped directly into my Outlook 2002 mailbox. The benefits accruing to me are:
- Reduction in the number of places I have to go for news to one.
- Quick drag-and-drop of posts (now Outlook messages) into “PersonalBrain”, therefore greatly improving my knowledge management and referencing to past posts.
- Offline reading of posts
- An ability to manage more feeds than currently possible. The Radio news aggregator is getting a little too large to handle
- Read/unread marks.
If you are an Outlook user take a look at NewsGator today.
