My use of delicious is flagging because I’m finding it difficult to get a consistency with my keywording. For that reason I’m beginning to implement a controlled vocabulary which creates a structure. As I write, websites about XMP and IPTC, both of which are metadata standards for images are not at all related by current keywords. To get around this, the controlled vocabulary will be a hierarchical tree and each level of the hierarchy will be mapped.
So, a page on XMP will be tagged with: standards metadata image XMP, as a page on IPTC would be tagged: standards metadata image_metadata IPTC.
Something about JPEGs would appear as: standards file_formats image_formats JPEG.
Not sure how this will play out. I’ve always thought one of the benefits of del.icio.us was the ability to tag things so they can be found again. Keywording alone is not enough.
